health is indeed wealth...

it pains to see a loved one in pain...mental ache, physical pain and the emotional ups and downs that ensue.
someone i love the most, that someone who to my knowledge has never missed work or a commitment due to ill health, had to undergo a surgery yesterday.i knew that it had to happen, but only yesterday when he was being wheeled in to the operation theatre did the fact sink in... to see the " I.V" on his wrist, the operation gown, and he in a wheel chair brought tears into my eyes... that the surgery was a minor one and apparently is very common these days is secondary... i know there are millions who probably suffer more, and this is but a trivial issue...
but 4 me , to see a person whos the backbone of the family, whos always run around helping others, an out and out workaholic [a very restless one at that], someone with whom ive fought the most....to see that someone in the hospital is sure painful.

now dat everythings gone on fine, in another two days that special someone will get back home :) and i honestly cant wait to fight with him again!

honestly though, health is indeed wealth.. the little things we all tend to neglect and get back real bad.. its stupidity to jeopardise health to fulfill the other worldly desires!!!

stay healthy people :)

P.S
i was passing by some ward yesterday when i saw someone being wheeled in to the emergency ward, trying to resuscitate him.. it was a painful sight.. i do not know the person from Adams, but im still wondering whether hes survived or not....

dhoom 2

well jus got back from watching dhoom -2.. havent watched dhoom and therfore cant tell which one's better...

well this movie was sure watchable... infact more than watchable though personally i dont think i can watch it more than once for anything!

a good starcast though personally i think they cudve done without ms rai... bipasha basu as always looks awesome... abhishek and uday chopra were good... hrithik takes the cake though.. he looked simply superb in all the various styles he appears in ...

i enjoyed the movie till ms rai's entry... the first half i thought she was unbearable... xtremely plastic in her acting and dancing... looked like barbie dancing, with the mild difference that barbie looks very cute :)

the second half was a good mix of all the actors with a good deal of stunts, visual effects, sexy lookin bikes and an interesting storyline.

the background score was good i thought, specially when hrithik comes in...
music, well, except for 2 songs dont really think i even remember the rest!

all in all a pretty decent watch...

oopsie!!!

this one's too funny.. am still laughing at not my stupidity per se..but the way events jus turned out :)just called a friend o mine on her landline phone.. her tone usually is a lil stern on the landline than when on the cell phone...[familiarity aspect]exchanged the hellos and then shifted to our mother tongue "telugu" .. thinkin it was her i pulled a long one, tryin to be very courteous and respectful... being sarci bout how shes always on the streets, etc etc... all this in good faith thinkin its her... was tryin 2 find out wat on earth was she doing when she msgd me at 4:43 am and thats when i realised the folly ..the poor lady who answered my call kept insisting that madam is out, and i on the other hand kept askin her to come off it and speak normally...thats when the identity was revealed...the apparent friend turned out to be the baby sitter.gosh she sounded just like my friend and the funniest part is she played along which is y i really thought it was my friend!
i feel so funny now...am sure my friend will have a hearty laugh when she gets to know of it.... we have another round of laughter awaiting :)

rrrrewind

11 november 2006 , the annual sports day of st anns high school, icse, secunderabad...

a day that took me back in time 8 years and left me feeling completely nostalgic..

that only 8 years ago i was on that very field brought me both joy and a sense of sadness.

discipline, creativity, imagination galore, crisp marchpast, coordination at its best, prim and properly dressed students, an experience guaranteed to satisfy...
thats a typical sports day for u at st anns icse, in a nutshell. [im sure any annite would echo a similar sentiment :) ]

also me being an "annite" [as we're called] its but obvious that il love my school any which way..however this time around i was indeed a little disappointed :(

as always the show started off with the guard of honor, a traditional welcome marchpast for our chief guest. [it used to be a sense of achievement and pride to be selected for the guard of honor.] as the students marched in , was i a little misty eyed... after all 8 years ago i was in that very guard of honor! whoever thought of the theme this time is a creative genius! its the best ever ive witnessed :)

after declaring the sports meet open, the regular drill displays, sprint relays, athletic games and the marchpast followed suit... personally the drill displays did not really appeal to me.. i could actually see a drastic fall in quality[ yeah i hate to admit it....:( ] which left me really dissappointed.. after all my school' s much better than that!
the marchpast also wasnt upto the mark.. when we being ex students had a higher benchmark to qualify for the marchpast, it was sad to witness the slightly shoddy marchpast...

however, the athletic games this time were really interesting, fresh and innovative :)
a drill display by the tiny tots christened "titanic" wins hands down... an xtremely cute theme, it was a feast to see the cute little kiddos dance to celine dions song with their cute sailor dresses.

and finally the closing ceremony, which was the mother of all events... a beautifully choreographed torch drill display accompanied with a message of love and a wonderfully rendered song... it could not have got better :)

the sports meet finally ended with the guard of honor, this time by the plus two students..

time sure flies and events such as this brings back all those sweet memories that can only be relived but can never experienced again!

like a flowing river :)

just finished reading "like the flowing river" the latest release by paulo coelho...
i could not have enjoyed the book more as the timing was just perfect.. i was [ and am] going through the shittiest phase of my life... where the road only seems to be an uphill task with no respite anywhere close..
whether the appreciation for the book is more because of me being in the dumps, i do not really know...
an inspiring must read, the book is a collection of the author's observations and reflections of day to day life.about how pain and happiness are two sides of the same coin..

whether its about a simple account of turning down a beggar and the guilt the author felt or inspiring notes of how to handle stress, emotional turmoils or the 9/11 disaster.. the book captures the reader's interest.

the simple truths of life narrated in a lucid manner using simple props such as pencils, mountains, rivers... thereby making it both an interesting and a memorable read :)

a recommended reading for just about anyone!!!

the straightened me ;)

well if my dad or a contemporary of my dad [who knows me, well] were to read this, they will be highly elated :)
that this incorrigible "girl" so to say has finally straightened out is sure good news!!!

too bad though that the only thing straightened out at the moment, is my apparent long[ oops not too long] tresses :)
finally i get to experience straight and thick black hair on my head :)got my hair ironed out 2 days ago, and havent stopped preening as yet.. that i could walk out without havin to braid , or ponytail, or 'clip' my hair, is such a wonderful feeling...

that i dont have to oil my hair on a daily basis , is a welcome break...

atleast for a few days i dont have to see that dry, frizzy, extremely thick and curly hair o mine... :) :)

revelling in the new look o mine... too bad it wont stay 4 long!
signin off...
been a while since i admired my hairstyle :)

the inevitable change...

"the only thing constant is change", the oh so familiar cliche, the most often used pacifier, that one statement i would love not to agree with at times...

its true that variety is indeed the spice of life... that only change brings in that variety and adds that extra tang to life.. i wouldnt want to even think of a monotonous existence, killing the very zest 4 life!

however sometimes i wish change wouldn happen at all... that when the going is smooth, let it continue to be so!

agreed that the good can be appreciated only when there is the bad, happiness only when pained , love after hate and union only when there is a separation....
however even this doesnt go down well at times...

two people in love... crazily in love for four years ..been together for 2 whole years...used to seeing each other every single day... things moving smoothly..when suddenly life decides to play truant...then follows a year of separation [courteousy studies] with the only thought of getting back to base camp, to the same comfort zone once the mission's accomplished...

somehow no light at the end of the tunnel as yet...

life sure is a roller coaster ride.. just as the ride seems to have stopped, there it goes, at full throttle!

in and out of the base camp, courteousy "job hopping" , better opportunites or the lack of it[ any which way one wants to c it ] the ride just never seems to end...

the only solace " whatever happens happens for the good" !?!?!

LLB 3rd sem....

one down, 2 more to go..jus started my second year of the LLB course..
a combination of interestin and not so interesting subjects...
a thoughtful combination of good and funny lecturers!
1 out of the 4lecturers is really good... good command over the subject and an equally matching personality and aura ... ideally fit to be the principal of our college, in my personal opinion.
next in line the only lady lecturer this sem... pretty neat command over the language and the subject..
the third tolerable lecturer, a guy we had last sem, so pretty used to his antiques :)
the fourth one wins hands down in providing wholesome entertainment!
he takes property law.. has an amazing voice modulation..basically high pitched, suddenly touches the highest chords..thereby awakening the most persistent "sleepyheads" ...
the gentlemen and gentleladies together we, the students, are exposed to a new lexicon..
where contracts entered into with "unsoundminded" men are void because they now become "waste fellows" , where the 'production must be produced" b4 i dunno whom...
attended my first class of his only today...
therfore the antiques captured are few....

if somewhere my english is wrong,it can be safely concluded that im absorbing every detail of the class very well like a gentlelady ;)

simplicity and modern day bollywood!?!?

jus got back watching "khosla ka ghosla" a hindi movie released a week ago...
the movie done,im wondering if the movie is indeed a bollywood product...
i havent seen in the recent past any bollywood movie which is so simple yet so entertaining...
this one takes u back in time to the league of movies like kabhi kabhi, chupke chupke etc...subtly humorous and simple in style, this one sure gives us viewers a well needed break from the otherwise grandoise make belief movies being churned out practically every week!!!

the khosla parivar is a typical middle class family who typically invests their entire life savings in land only to be taken over by land sharks...
the modus operandi to get their land back varies from the polite request, to the then physical use of force finally to settle down with giving the landshark a taste of his own medicine!

a well chosen star cast does justice to their roles... no excessive acting, no shrieky yells, no grandoise and ornate settings...

in a nutshell a movie worth watching:)

divide and rule...again!?!

Well as mentioned in my previous post, the british successfully implemented the policy of divide and rule…

Our modern day ministers continue to swear by their policy…

Came across a news article the other day about a minister of the local government wanting to construct hostels for each of the minority religions, more specifically muslims and Christians.

To me that spells disaster!

Firstly, to construct a hostel exclusively for a particular religions sounds absolutely ludicrous…where is the harmony and the unity despite the diversity, then.

Secondly, does it then imply, that the existing hostels would be devoid of any minority “inmates” once the proposed exclusive hostel comes up for them?!?!

If that’s the case, I think we are heading to a very precarious situation. what with each minister promising to construct a hostel [or any public utility for that matter] for the caste and religion he belongs too!?!
what with there being absolutely no need to learn to adapt and mingle with the myriad cultures and religions… its only when one’s exposed to different cultures and customs, can one learn to adjust, adapt and appreciate the difference…
Variety indeed is the spice of life!

Such a situation defeats the very identity of India… that of being a “united” country despite the vast diversity…the one quality every country appreciates and identifies India with….

When will the government of the people, for the people and by the people be truly so…

6 September 2006

the soul stirring, national song "vande mataram" was written by bankim chandra chatterjee on 7th september, 1876...initially adopted as the national anthem, later rejected on baseless grounds, thus being adopted as the national song.

tomorrow the 7 September 2006, as a mark of respect of the song completing 100+ yrs, it has been made compulsory to sing the national song in all educational institutions!

a hue and cry over this compulsion as been doing the rounds in the print media, electronic media..jus about everywhere.

did i say hue and cry?? well i did and honestly i fail to understand the reasons behind it...

firstly a national song is inherently "national"! doesnt specifically belong to a religion.it is a song for the nation, of the nation to be sung by the citizens of that nation!!!

where then did the concept of religion creep in..
the british successfully lived out their motto of "divide and rule". they have left long back, but our netas continue to follow their ideals!!!

its sick to see our politicians indulge in such cheap a tactic to fulfill their vested interests... supposed men of wisdom, its high time the word itself is given an after thought..

coming to the other school of thought..that of the self proclaimed protectors of religion...which part of the word" national song" connotes religion? how is paying reverence to the nation, deemed as praising one particular god....

a truly religious person will not be this insecure.. religious fervour and national fervour are two different things...each to their own..

a true national will sing the national song irrespective of his religion.
a true devout will silently be devoted to his religion.

if only our "supposed" men of wisdom are devoted to the cause of the nation as a whole and not their personal cause, the media will then probably run out of business!!! what with no new controversy cropping up, there will be not much left for them to do...

my never endin xams :( :(

sob, sulk, whine, sigh dats pretty much my state of affairs right now ...
all this courteousy the "well planned" examinations scheduled by the university i belong!!

i fail to understand the logic behind conducting a month long[ n more] examination for only 4 papers that i have in my second sem of my law course....

my exams commenced on the 14 of august and end i dont know when....
they were to finish tomorrow the 6 of sept...but 4 some reason were postponed to the 18 of the month and now again have been postponed further to an undecided day!!!

the reason for postponing tomorrow's exam is the ganesh immersion procession and the resultant inconvenience it may cause...but wat i fail to understand is y dint the university authorities wake up to this fact earlier and plan accordingly...

its not that lord ganesh decided to spring in a surprise with his visit this yr...as always the time and duration of his visit was known...

was the university in a deep slumber or is it plain lack of planning and indifference to the students...

i dont really know!?!?!?

24 August 2006

movies, movies n more movies...

well dats what ive been doing off late...
pre exams and in between my never ending exams, i have been watching quite some movies...some the very first release in hyd, some in the first week of its release and methinks one months after its release... heres the list:

yun hota to kya hota..well had very high expectations from this one...wat with it being naseeruddin shah's directorial debut, having the likes of konkana sen and irfan khan in the starcast..this one was really sad..wat with a screechin mother in law, a crazy sister in law...watchin this movie was sure painful...

omkara...quite nice...saif, devgan and konkana sen were the best...oberoi is worth a miss..

krish... quite a nice movie more so cos i the actual seemed far better than my imagination. nothing special bout the music.

lady in the water....well pretty neat...jus dat the supposed lady in the water was scarily pale! dont really think il watch it again!

kabhi alvida na kehna.... stay away from this one... was completely sad...boring, trying, everything but entertaining!!! amitabh bachhan and kiron kher was the only saving grace...music seemed familiar, king khans acting as always was stereo type. abhishek, rani n preity did a decent job.

bommarilu a telugu movie with quite a refreshing story line.. pretty nice music and siddarth as always looked very cute in this one...quite worth a watch!

carsthis one wins hands down!!! extremely cute, foot tappin background score, amazin animation...refreshing new theme..compels me to wonder bout the creative think tanks out there to come out with something as cute as this..human emotions so wonderfully weaved in...this is a sure must watch...age is obviously no bar here...

mmhh dats pretty much it...intend to go watch a couplo two in the next one week...

more later...

at last...

phew..at last i get to c my blog....thanx to the govt. ban on blogs, its been close to two months that i have even viewd my blog! and two weeks ago when i actually cud get hold o my blog, my exams started :(
neways thanx to the long drawn set o xams now i have 'time' to c, read and create my blog :)

14 July 2006

split personality or...........

my dad's pet stmt, yell, regret, call it wat u may is " show me ur friends il tell you wat u are!!! "
this is the first thing i get to hear when he's completely mad at me...

reason being, he thinks his sweet lil, darling daughter[ dats me :)] was never this rude or nasty or disobedient or rebellious etc etc...but has become so over the years thanx to the "not so good" friends o mine...

i have always rubbished the stmt and to a large extent continue to do so.
to think that my friends would have a bad influence on me [read indulgin in the so cald vices] is plain stupidity...

i would instead want to believe that a certain friend ,dependin on how close they are to u ,brings out a certain set o behavioural patterns...

par exemple, im very caring and protective bout my closest friends...dont mind them takin liberty with me n vice versa....with them im usually happy, cheerful, helpful, annoyed at times and completely myself...

then there is another kind who tend to bring out the "dirtiest" traits ever....those of being possessive, suspicious, mean, vengeful, nasty, rude.....the kind who'd leave u in an agitated state o affairs,a state of helplessness...
could be someone u hate but cant do away with, someone u love the most and again, cant really move on,or someone's who's plain been mean and ungrateful life long...

watever it is methinks ne human being and bring in the positive and negative traits in u...and these negative traits are worser than even the actual tangible vices dat one may indulge in...

this is y i somewhere agree and largely disagree to wat my dad thinks :)

24 June 2006

so much in the name of religion!!!

the da vinci code is in news again...in the state of andhra pradesh, where i live...
reason....the screening was banned conjointly with two other states, just an evening b4 its release...
initial uproar and then the matter fizzled out..
now again, the honorable high court passed a ruling that such a ban was unjustified and directed the government to compensate the distributors...it also called for the release of the movie...
all said and done...one makes the other mars...
the movie was to be screened yesterday but was apparently not...reason being a group of self acclaimed guardians of christianity resenting such release.out with the same old rationale that it affects their religious sentiments...
they staged a protest, resorted to vandalism..damaged some furniture and glass panes at the counter...
all this in the name of religion...
it compels me to wonder what goes on in their mind when they resort to such stupidity... does any religion encourage violence of any kind.[oops violence is too harsh a term in this context...lets call it unrest, public nuisance, craziness..nething...]
wat baffles me the most is that when the movie was created and brought out by an all christian crew, why is it that these so called fundamentalists object...
are they competing against the christians all over the world for the most devout christian award !?!?!?!
wat is, after all ,wrong with all these people who protest in the name of religion..to me its jus an eyewash...a gimmick to attract attention..an attempt to bask in limelight...
little do they realise that in the end, they only make a royal fool o themselves~~~

PS before i end up startin another crusade here...im not targetting neone religion in particular...all u narrow minded religious fanatics pls keep ur views to urselves :)

22 June 2006

pee pee everywhere....

im not gonna continue with dat oh so known line....4 my own gud!
my only qstn or thought is ...will boys..oops men ever grow!
its understandable when, as kids, its difficult to "control" the urge to relieve oneself...
it is also totally acceptable that men are indeed at an advantage anatomically...wat with they not having to bother, per se, about scurryin around for a decent if not impeccably clean loo...that advantage comes into picture when, say, ones travelling by road[ with no access to a loo]and travelling i mean long journeys...

but to flaunt it jus cos u have it, is something i cannot really fathom.
y is it that men dont think it necessary to visit the loo b4 steppin out[ frm office, home jus bout newhere]...or is there some weird sense of justification or pleasure they derive by answerin their nature call amidst nature!?!?!

or have they taken it up on themselves to water [?!?!?] trees, cure the walls, nourish the soil etc etc....

this is probably one area where caste, creed, status, education pose no barrier watsoever...it transcends into all strata of the male clan....

u get off a sedan, a SUV, a bike,a cycle or plain walk it...it dont matter when it comes to peein in public.

it compels me to wonder bout the pscyhe of the "pee'ur"...does he think its his birthright to pee jus about newhere... or is it a symbol of his manhood...or is it jus out right lack of self control...

for me and im sure many o the women its plain annoyin, sick and gross to b forced to witness and walk by the oh so many men happily relievin themselves in the open...oblivious to their own surroundings, stench and good sense!

did i stir a hornet's nest....well i dont care!

19 June 2006

mirror mirror on the wall, who's the worst of them all....

well a slight alteration to the witch's stmt[ was it the witch? been ages since i read "snow white" ;)]
wat prompts me to alter it in such a fashion...
well im into my second sem of law with some interesting papers such as criminal law and constitutional law and some oh so dull one's like muslim law n contracts..
usually, nay, more often than not a teacher has it in him /her to make even the saddest of all papers, interesting...
also there exist some really sad teachers who kill the interest in a student and not in the subject perse.
but this semester, have i the pleasure of having as my "teachers" , 4 persons who have successfully managed to kill not only the interest in the student, but also help develop a total aversion to the subject!!!
to me it always seems they are competing with each other for the "teacher dat sucks the most" award !!!
picture this:
my criminal law sir, who comes[late] lectures and leaves...no interaction watsoever....
my contracts sir, who for some despises the very sight of us, which is y, he's always teachin the ceiling!!! yes he only looks at the ceiling when teachin :(
my constitutional sir, who in all fairness the least of evils...
and lastly the family law sir, who's sexual orientation is always a doubt 4 me and few other likeminded souls...he blushes when a fellow student throws him a kiss & pouts his lips at "sir", converts the classroom into a playground 4 a while...which is y hes earned the nickname" sleaze ball "
now tell me doesnt my title seem apt...
ne suggestions towards a better title,,,gladly welcome..
till then , well il count the # of days left 4 my second sem to finish!!!

29 May 2006

wat has to happen will end up happening....

well back from my so called holiday to blore and chennai...
so called cos it was quite a trip...
right from the start nothing seemed to have been in my favour...
it rained cats n dogs the day i was leaving home...was quite a task reachin the station...
arrived at blore only to find it rainin even there...
barring the four hours of fun i had with my friends at their cosy home....everything else planned had not happened..
was to drive down to tirupati with a frend for a frends wedding ,lost our moorings
had a whole lotta "things to do" lined up, nothing was done...
had to cut short the trip by 3 days owing to a major domestic concern....
lack o sleep, un-timely meals, a screwed up chain of events....
the only positive aspect was the "learning"
understanding people and emotions with a compeletly different perspective.
a discovery of ones own person...
and the mother of all lessons....that no matter how hard one tries, something that has to happen will eventually happen...
even the best of efforts, sometimes, dont get us the intended results!!!

25 May 2006

devils advocate...aptly so!

well the 27 something percent reservation in private educational institutions....
how many 4 it, how many against it...
a million polls centring round this issue on the so many jobless media channels...
was viewing a programme on CNN-IBN called "devils advocate" hosted by karan thapar...
well initially used to dislike the guy when on another channel[ bbc methinks] ...
reason being...way too fast to even comprehend!
but now mus say...hes sobered down ..no longer runs with his sentences...
so...he hosts the show "DEVILS ADVOCATE" and mus say its an apt title when he hosts it...
his style of questioning can sure be a sticky position for the guest...
it was really nice to c him pin down the HRD minister arjun singh and his take on reservations...
mus say the honorable minister was either very diplomatic or was jus plain unprepared...
for almost every question posed, his answer was a consistent...i dont know....

picture this...

disclaimer!!
not verbatim...jus a gist...

Q.will the reservation apply to all classes in all generations...
A.i dont know...it depends...it might...i think the benefit should pass on to all generations
[ duh?!?!]
Q. will the govt stagger the process
A. i dont know...

Q.how is it going to be implemented..
am sure the answer is now evident :)

it was shocking to hear these responses come out from a union minister's mouth...
before theres unnecessary hype bout the whole thing...
methinks the people who thought of it in the first place should themselves have a blue print ready...no point passing a bill only to wonder what the next step should be....

:) :)

well...me off to blore this evening...my second holiday in xactly a months time :)
last month was off to pondicherry wid frends...a nice trip, good food, good fun...jus dat it ended on a slightly sour note
this one again is wid frends...hopefully will go off smoothly without ne hitches...
a major issue on hand ..well dont have a return ticket...heavily booked till god knows when...looks like il have to shell out a premium to get bk...
so much so far...
none more to add in..

19 May 2006

jus a thought...

if man proposes and god disposes...y at all propose...let bruce almighty take over complete charge..

if truth always triumph..
.. can the defence counsel ever win?!?!

if ignorance is bliss...
....y is knowledge wealth ?!!?!

honesty pays...
yeah right...sometimes one can pay real heavy...

mmhh me tryin to think of more...
but 4 now dats it...

irony !

well...wat else do i say...was sittin at home tryin to kill time and beat the heat...
the weather outside was not conducive at all to even step out...
and today when the weather is jus rite, pleasant and breezy... been cloudy for most part of the day...
planned to do a whole lotta things today...and here i am at home, writhing in pain since morning ...been down in the dumps...lower than probably that :(
reason, well, acidity...reason am mentionin it, cos people watch out, over eating and junk food consumption can have some real nasty repercussions !?! :(
mus say im slightly lucky to sit up atleast now and browse a lil...
which is y its probably sd "man proposes and god disposes" ..
either which way seems to work...jus as the climate outside improved, my system acted out !
neways....summer this time is real bad...and even the bestest of hotels aint gonna give u fresh food...so watch out ppl...wat with food rottin completely in tandem with the soaring mercury level!
am beginnin to feel tired..so me stop 4now...

16 May 2006

bored to death :(

the title says it all...
am completely bored to death...
have a summer break from college since the 28 of april...
the last few days were fun and interesting...dint realise the heat at all..reason being company of a loved one ;)
me also thinks we were lucky in one way as the heat wasnt at its peak as yet...it was bearable...
now theyre many factors adding to my boredom..
firstly, its sweltering hot outside...
secondly, not many o my frends here nelonger:(
thirdly, the heat is so enervating that stayin indoors is as bad...cant read much, sleep much....
fourthly, the scary traffic snarls, kills even that little desire to step out in the evenings...
am really bored to death wat with the mercury soaring regardless and boundless :(
ne suggestions???

11 May 2006

duh?!?!

our constitution in its preamble declares india as a sovereign ,democratic, republic ...a purported government of the people, for the people and by the people...
so much for it...
im not gonna talk about the large scale, far fetched economic policies, infrastructure development..so on so forth...
i go down to a very basic, common man's perspective....
that traffic snarls are the inthing in almost every metro...that my apna hydbad is not laggin behind in this race for being the most congested city, is a well known fact...
wat is annoying ...like addin salt to the wound...is the VIP tantrums , we the commoners have to face...
any "vip", whether worth his name or not has a huge convoy of men and material..
causing immense havoc and inconvenience to "we the people...."
a 10 minute travel of the convoy, disrupts traffic for hours together...
is all this really required??
wat baffles me the most is the fact that the raison d'etre of these politicians is to serve us "the people"...ironical that it us ,they put at utmost discomfort!?!?
their random babble, false promises, stoopingly low levels...all of this kills my interest to vote for them... havent got my voters id yet..and surprisingly am not even bothered.now dat therez a party formed by the youth i may jus want to exercise my right to vote...mus wait n watch their performence.
dats it for now...

eveready , rin safedi, navratan cool.....

wat does the title refer to?? well activate ur memory bank..and lo behold...those are the brands our very own" angry young man" "badshaah" of indian cinema...amitabh bachan, has endorsed...
many questions cross my mind whenever i view these asinine ads on tv...
one...wat did the company have in mind when they thought of signin a super star to endorse their product...do they have millions of rupees at their disposal!?!?
two...do products like battery cells, detergent powder and hair oil sell better when endorsed by a celebrity???
three.... are, we, the end consumers that stupid to decide on a product solely on its "star value"...
i mean comon...wud i even care to buy that pungent "navratan thanda thanda cool cool" hair oil jus cos amitabh bachan , apparently uses it...wat am i thinking...will eventually have hair like him....????
i mean wat is the "ratio-decedendi" [reasoning]employed by the companies to sign in celebrities for products which are almost essential...which dont involve too much decision making...its use, non-use or misuse not making too much of a difference to the end consumer?!?1
i find it absurd on the part of the companies to think of its end consumers as a buncho dimwits...wat with they living in a fools paradise...sachin ridin a tvs fiero...yeah rite...thats the only thing he cud afford with his stinkingly hefty pay pack...
shahrukh khan pretendin to be a compaq salesman...wow i wud love to c his marketin skills....
y is it that actors cant jus stick to acting...leave modelling to the models...y where such a mask which aint even convincing....
at this rate...esp the rate at which amitabh bachan is moving ...i wudnt be surprised to find him endorse...ahem...whisper sanitary pads!?!?!
dont ask me y ...stick to the thumb rule of "caveat emptor" , let the buyer beware....
dont be fooled by the celebrity endorsin it!?!

human nature...a paradox!

well...where n how do i start off???
me for one am always amazed with the way human emotions are...
one same individual can be a source of immense joy and pride ....n the same individual can be the cause of tremendous heartache n agony...

a repeated visit to a monument, hotel.. jus bout newhere can have different stories to tell, based solely on the company....

i find it completely baffling mosto the times....y is it that the person we love the most, we hurt and (at times) hate the most...

yet despite all the emotional shit one goes through...we still tend to continue with it...

are all human beings, masochists, somewhere...
or is it the harsh reality, that, given a chance ,we all wud luv not to accept?!?
the bitter truth, that ,love and hatred are two sides of the same coin...that with happiness comes grief...

but hey however queer i find it ,i resign to the conclusion....dat to appreciate the good things in life...u jus have to bolt down a whole lotta bitterness....

unfair...but true!

"V" for.....vendetta, vandalism....

mmhh...jus returned home from watching " V for vendetta"...
an amazing, must c movie....
a grippin and xciting theme....a suspense that stays on even after the movie...
intelligent diction...
good to c and good to hear...
now for the theme...well its about this masked guy[ who remains anoynomous even now!!!] who feels the pressing need to change the existing system....an upholder of the basic values of life...a self acclaimed protector of the innocent...
a guy who believes that ruthlessness is justified if the need arises...

this and a lot more...to be honest find it a lil difficult to put it down in words!
its quite an offbeat, weird, creative movie...not to 4get that as usual tends to screw up in the end... mkin it a bloodbath and therby gory...barring that...a good movie to watch...in a very queer sense...

rohinton mistry's family matters

well read another book by rohinton mistry...called "family matters"
the title of the book conveys two meanings...
a) family matters...in the sense of some situation or event that is thought about
b) and the increasingly diminishing fact that family indeed does matter..
in todays world where personal bonds are sacrificed for money and power...where the old and the weak are left at the mercy of old age homes...where they are percieved as a burden to their own kith n kin...
heres a story about nariman vakeel whos effected with parkinsons. is under the care and mercy of his two step children, jal and coomy.jal,a gentle and dutiful son...a peace maker and man of composure... Coomy impatient, deceptive and scornful...can never forgive her step father for cheating on her mother!
nariman's daughter roxanne, a duty bound and caring daughter, wife and mother...who despite her financial woes takes care of her family[extended after her father stays with her due to a fractured ankle]without losing her cool!
its about the complete change of a lifestyle with the addition of another individual to the family...sometimes a moment of joy , sometimes burdensome...
with no offense to anyone...the old can somtimes ..all the times be extremely painful and annoyin[ am a constant witness to that]ungrateful and cribbing...totally annoying...
yet there are some who feel indebted to the other, for even the simplest and smallest act...[ have witnessed someone like that too!!]undemanding and content people...
nariman vakeel comes under the second category..
tries to help in watever little way he can...adjusting and caring...with immense gratitude for his daughter and her family...
despite his nature, fate leaves him at the mercy of his stepchildren...then own daughter...and finally a reunion of his family...
a revamped and remodelled family[ both home and members !!! ]each with a new set of idiosyncrasies!!?!
after all this my verdict....
......a pretty neat read, but nothing to beat his previous "fine balance"
signin off...

9 April 2006

it was fun :)

8th april 2006, one of those amazing days that wud be etched in my memory for years to come...
reason being....a local city site seeing tour, with two o my frends nah...two o my real gud frends :)
its funny ,that the, company, can make so much of a difference to the otherwise mundane surroundings...that repeated visits to the same place [ any place...monument, restaurent, shoppin mall, a diff city ......]can seem boring or exciting , with the kind of people you go with!!!
like i said ,my friends and i boarded the bus at 8 am in the morning of 8/4/06...we took the conducted tour provided by our A.P Tourism[ hyderabad ,where we live!] department...
we started off with the Birla Mandir[ to invoke the almighty's blessings :) ]then a drive around the famed Charminar and Mecca masjid...then to the Nizam's pavilion, as its called... a museum showcasing the Nizam's enormous wealth... his wardrobe 240 feet long....[ apparently never repeated a single piece of his clothing ever!?!!]his walking sticks embedded in diamonds, emeralds and rubies, a shaving set cast in gold and lots more....not to 4get a spittoon, also cast in gold for his highness!?!?1
oops i 4got to mention , since we had gone on a "conducted" tour, i cannot 4get our "conductor" ...who kept us on our toes , literally... ordering " A.P" [ the name he used to address us all with] to get back within a stipulated time... must say a stickler 4 time..he almost left me and my friends to our fate cos we were 20 mins late.
well our next stop was at the Salar Jung Museum, where we witnessed the artistic italian creation..the Veiled Rebecca...simply out of the world....wouldnt want to dampen the beauty of this marble wonder, by talkin about it...its something to be witnessed in person!
phew am tired now[ of writing ;) ...surprisingly wasnt this dead yesterday :) ]
from the museum , we went to the Zoo[ had more of a photo session here...] , then stopped for lunch which was decent enough.
after refuelling ourselves, we went to the Golconda fort, only to return feeling absolutely famished!
well this was the fun part of it all.... it has 350 steps to take u up and 280 to bring u down!!!
my frends and i decided to go on our own...had fun during the ascent...went camera crazy...and crazy :)
reached the top...admired the scenic beauty and the architectural nuances....and then decided to descent using the apparent "royal" pathway...
some royalty it was... ..we had our hearts pounding for a good 15-20 mins as we walked in and out of the old time dungeons and durbars....also compounded with our conductor's threat of leavin us there, should we be late again!!!
well we finally made it in time....glad to c daylight and our bus :)
we then went to the Qutub Shahi Tombs, a supposed stop over converted to a drive through[ all of us were too dead ourselves, to go visit the dead!]
our penultimate stop was at some god forsaken shoppin area...
and the final stop was when my frends and i got off near mgroad...
treated ourselves to some delicious "chaat" and sugarcane juice :) :) [slurp!]
and then headed home around 630 pm....
phew! some day it was....a day when we were on the streets, literally :)
me stoppin now...am tired o typin...

rohinton mistry's a fine balance

well finally am done readin "a fine balance " by rohinton mistry...for the not so voracious reader that i am..well yes it did take me days to complete the book...
its funny and amazing to realise all of a sudden, that despite being in the know of something [ anything...]we probably still don't know it fully....
i mean we are all aware of poverty, the poor being xploited always, that might is right ...so on so forth...
we all probably know it in a generic sense...
but after readin this book, my oh my, did i suddenly think i was slapped hard in my face!?!?!
the author has so lucidly and poignantly conveyed the emotion and the travails of being born poor...
set during the emergency, its a distressing tale of how the poor and the innocent are forced to attend the votebank gatherings the political parties hold...how the innocent poor are sterilised and castrated with the false promise of monetary gains....how the helpless are ruthlessly left to die...the dirty casteism prevalent in those times, adding salt to the injury....
it also brings out the immense hope and willpower the affected protagonists possess...a zest for life which outweighs the hardships...
a never say die attitude that stares into your face!
mmhhh this and much more...i suggest , go read the book...
it will kindle or better still rekindle the latent humanity we all possess somewhere....

falling in love= aa bel mujhe maar?!?!?

mmhh well 4 those who dont know hindi...my caption meant" falling in love....is it inviting trouble?!?1 "
there are these funny oneliners about love and love marriages in general...about how fallin in love is close to committin suicide...invitin upon oneself avoidable trouble n heartaches....
i dont intend to sound like those typical old hags who find the very idea of choosing one's own life partner , absolutely ludicrous...
having being in a relationship myself i cant but agree with the witty oneliners about how indeed fallin in love is an avoidable mistake!
after a million brainstorming sessions with i me myself,i find myself cursing the day i said the forbidden "yes".....
...thers no denying to the lovliest moments that one can xperience when in love...but in the same breath..the trying moments dat one has to go through is sure painful all da more when its easily avoidable!!!!
y is it that an emotion as wonderful as love brings wid it so much heartache?!?!y is it that though happiness and sadness are two emotions of the same coin,it always seems heavier on the side of sadness!?!?!
is it jus me or is it jus the way "love" is.....

2 April 2006

:):) me lived up to my promise

well finally went for my walk today...4 kms stretch ...a rejuvenating walk...a nice feeling of breakin a sweat only to have a whiff of air lashing my face:)
the only hitch now...well i only hope i continue goin 4 my walks!?!?!
for someone like me...who cant do one single thing for too long and need a real incentive to do something constantly...its quite a task..
me only hopin it doesnt remain a task nemore...
dats it 4 now...

really?!?!?

Your Seduction Style: The Natural

You don't really try to seduce people... it just seems to happen.

Fun loving and free spirited, you bring out the inner child in people.

You are spontaneous, sincere, and unpretentious - a hard combo to find!

People drop their guard around you, and find themselves falling fast.

mmhh...

You Are a Coy Flirt

You may not seem like you're flirting, but you know exactly what you're doing.
You draw people in, very calculatingly, without them even knowing.
Subtle and understated, you know how to best leverage your sex appeal.
A sexy enigma, you easily become an object of obsession.

when will i.....

mmhh well me have put on lotsa weight..am tryin my level best to get myself to exercise in some form o the other...jus dont seem to have the drive to wake up early n walk:( :(
keep cribbin all day as to how fat ive bcome..wats the point....
today i intend to go 4 a walk come wat may...hopefully should live up to it!
like in criminal law...for an act to be an offence there should be "mensrea" or guilty mind and "actusreus" or physical act...
mere intention does not constitute a crime...an act in furtherance of that intention is a necessary MUST!!!
similarly if i only intend to walk, thers not an iota of weight that am gonna lose...
weird logic?!?!
well balls to those who think so :)

cafe d'art

cafe d'art...literally translated would mean,coffee of art...another way o interpreting it...art of coffee ....
well the name sure sounds "zara hatke"...
a cafe ,located here, in hyderabad..have no clue watsoever , if its a chain of coffee pubs...
neverthless a nice place to visit...
ambience...tastefully done...soothing to the eyes n mind...
a very formal setup , methinks...
for a "gawar" like me....toooooo sophisticated ;)
methinks an ideal ambience for the oldies....no jarring music, glaring interiors, flashy furniture....
mmhh coming to the food and coffee...
well the deserts look very appealing and is indeed quite delicious[ slurp]
coffee...well i ordered for a hot chocolate...which was far from being hot...
methinks hot has a different meaning.....
and now to the imp part o it...how big a hole will the visit mk...
a pretty visible hole....methinks the place is xpensive...all the more cos it doesnt seem worth it!!!
methinks one can visit cafe d'art atleast once....

15 park avenue.....a must c !!!

mmhh jus watched 15 park avenue, an aparna sen's movie....though pretty late in the day....but hey better late than never :)
15 park avenue's bout a schizophrenic konkana sen[me thinks one helluva actor...simbly outstanding] lost in her small little world of her husband jojo[ rahul bose...the oh so talented actor] and their maaaaany kids....15 park avenue is that locality of calcutta which exists only for meethi[ as konkana's called]... a figment of her imagination! ...its her place of abode.... a place she is constantly in search for....a place which she finally finds....
the movie is much more than jus schizophrenia ,though....its about the emotions that come into play...about the mental make up that is required to take care of such affected people....the patience and love needed at all times despite the stress that one undergoes....
its a challenge that one is forced to take up .....a smile that surfaces after some effort...
the picture is truly poignant... a sure must watch...
also a must watch for the excellent performence by konkana sen, shabani azmi, rahul bose....gosh i find it so difficult to choose...the starcast was simbly superb...each one living up to their role!
go watch it, ul agree with moi;)

23 February 2006

how important is EQ....
mmhh is someone actually talkin bout Emotional Quotient!?!?
in an age where there exists such cut throat competition , an age where all , anyone ,is concerned about , is intellect..does emotion even matter......
well...what exactly is "emotion",one of the meanings given by oxford is "instinctive feeling as distinguished from reasoning" ...also means sentiment , warmth....
so y am i talkin bout all this after all...
simple , cos i feel like ;)
like mentioned above , we' re all living in a world of cut throat competition...a world where you are judged based on the college uve passed out from...how much of the know how ur in etc..
the need to belong to the intelligentsia has reached to such crazy heights that youngsters only in their teens commit suicide because they've failed a particular unit test!!!
y on earth will a 16 yr old think of something as severe as suicide!?!!
is it because even the last link of support [ im talkin of parents] is gone now...
normally teachers and peers tend to ridicule n reprimand...
thats when parents provide the solace...
but now with the kind of pressure parents subject their children too ...even that is no longer available to them...
wat does all this lead too...a low self esteem, low confidence levels....thereby leadin to untapped potential...
did ne1 ever pause to think of the consequences of such behaviour....did ne1 ever think on these lines....
must be wondering....
.........wat mks me say it....
well xperience ,they say, is the best teacher!
